The MacManamy Road Barn was one I used to ride my bicycle by daily on my way to work in Ellensburg. Mr. Hand and Mr. MacManamy were the ‘cattlemen of the year’ in 1971. A friend, Ace, graciously invited me to stay in her wonderful run down old rental when I was without a place to live! I have fond memories of that area with the cows and the smell of fresh cut hay on a warm summer day!

We would take the 5 dogs, some cats and a goat for walks along the irrigation ditch!  On the hot days we would swim/float in the ditch and the animals would run along the road, the cat mewing, the goat bleating and the dogs as excited as ever! What a picture we were!!  I was raised in the city of Seattle so it was a whole new experience for me! Oh, how I love this side of the mountains! We have the best of both worlds, forests just over the way and sage brush in the wide open land.
